Summer is the quietest time for Reno Inspiring Connections Outdoors (Reno ICO). While this may be a surprise given the great opportunities for outdoor adventure during the summer, this season is when most of our partners, volunteers and trip leaders take time off. Most of our partner organizations are connected to the school year. Also, not surprisingly, our volunteers and trip leaders are getting outside with their families and friends! I have heard from many that they are traveling near and far to go rafting, kayaking, backpacking, hiking, and even paragliding. It is one way that our folks rejuvenate and get ready for the coming year. Keep on getting outside!
I hope you find this issue of the Reno ICO Newsletter motivates you to build your outdoor skills and experiences and join or lead some trips in the upcoming 25-26 school year. In the first article, you can learn about all of our successes in 2024 – Particularly motivating is the list of all the 2024 trips, which includes a short summary and a picture for each trip. In the second article, we introduce you to our fourth annual Outdoor Leadership Training and Retreat, which will again be held at Clair Tappaan Lodge in December. In the other articles you can read about trips, learn about a fun desert hike for the fall, and perhaps pick up a new book…
Reno ICO continues to grow... and we NEED YOU! If you would like to get more involved by volunteering on trips, becoming part of our Leadership Team to make our organization function, or if you would like to donate to support our 100% volunteer organization, I'd love to talk with you and help you to quickly get engaged.
