Here at Reno ICO, we like to think that our outdoor area is top notch, the very best. What if we think of Lake Tahoe, the High Sierra, and the Great Basin as a jumping off point for learning about and exploring the wide and wild world of nature? Perhaps the skills gained through our backpack, snowshoe, and rafting trips will inspire you and your participants to venture farther into the world.
As the new year begins, get inspired by taking a look at this video. It shows you what is happening every day over three seasons on a game trail just outside of Whitehorse, in the Yukon.
The webcam video reminded me we are just another species crossing landscapes. The frequency that the same animals use this trail made me smile! Like a river guide returning to the same camp through the seasons, each animal seems to be wondering what has happened since their last visit... You get to watch the moose's antlers grow and the velvet be shed, the grizzly gets fatter and the coyote seems genuinely perterbed that others are using it's trail.
When I am hiking, I often think about how this outdoor scene is there every day: the river is flowing, the fish are jumping, and the trees are moving in the wind… and I want to be in it, a part of it, as much as I can. To all of our readers, we wish you a 2026 where you maximize your time outside.
Gratitude to my friends at Canadian River Expeditions for sending out the link to this video in their holiday card. – Rob
