Was it planned this way? No, it just happened! A total coincidence! Three ICO partner organizations scheduled trips for a total of 39 participants on March 21, 23, and 24. We set so many Reno ICO records during this four-day period:
16 students and three staff from the Hug High Adventure Club went climbing at Mesa Rim Climbing gym, setting a record for the most participants on a Reno ICO Rock Climbing Trip.
17 youth and three staff from the Upward Bound Program at UNR, went snowshoeing at Chickadee Ridge. This is the first trip in our growing partnership with Upward Bound, a support program for high school students who will be the first generation in their families going to college.
- 6 adult participants and 5 staff from the Tahoe Ability Program snowshoed at Chickadee Ridge to a view of Lake Tahoe. Tahoe Ability Program is designed to create community inclusion, foster independence and promote progress for people with developmental disabilities. We are very excited about this new partnership!
16 ICO volunteer days were logged, with several volunteers going on more than one trip.
There were 3 certified ICO trip leaders and 7 provisional ICO Trip leaders who took part in at least one of the three trips. One of the provisional leaders was certified on her trip and now becomes one of our six certified trip leaders.
So those are the numbers… but that doesn’t tell the full story. Read on and view the pictures and videos to get a sense of the impact of these magnificent days of beauty and adventure.
