Reno ICO has become too big to continue as a 100% volunteer organization. Starting on September 14, 2026, Reno ICO has retained the services of Joyce Huang as our “Outdoor Logistics and Support Specialist.” Joyce works 15 hours per week to support everything from volunteer recruitment and community partners to newsletters and strengthening the ICO adult community. In her new position, Joyce provides more immediate support to volunteer and trip leaders than was possible with a Leadership Team made up solely of volunteers.
Joyce moved to Reno from Vermont in 2024 and currently works as a telehealth registered dietitian. She began volunteering with the Sierra Club Toiyabe chapter in 2025, which is when she was first introduced to Reno ICO through attending the fourth Outdoor Leadership Retreat in December 2025. Joyce is passionate about breaking down barriers to getting others into the outdoors and believes that outdoor recreation should be accessible to everyone.
In her spare time, Joyce enjoys reading, aerial arts, swimming, biking, running, climbing, snowboarding, hiking, and more!
Already, Joyce has been impactful in revising many forms, making changes to our website, posting on the Reno ICO Instagram page, onboarding Jean Lau as our new Volunteer Coordinator and doing in-depth planning for the fifth annual Reno ICO Outdoor Leadership Retreat, November 13-15, 2026 at Clair Tappaan Lodge at Donner Summit.
Let’s give Joyce a hearty welcome into her leadership position at Reno Inspiring Connections Outdoors. You can reach her at RenoICOinfo@gmail.com.
