Join a Maine Climate Action Team in Your Community

Mainers are demanding action to protect our climate and move as quickly as possible to 100% clean energy. We simply can’t wait for the next election to begin making progress on this goal.  That’s why we are launching our Maine Climate Action Team (CAT) program.  Local Climate Action Teams are organizing now throughout Maine to implement climate solutions including community solar projects, solar panels on school or town buildings, developing a town energy efficiency plan, advocating for public transportation, launching a local recycling/compost program, opposing dirty energy projects and much more.

To help you get started on forming a Climate Action Team in your town, we've prepared a "Guide for Starting Your Local Climate Action Team" which provides step-by-step suggestions for planning and running your first couple of CAT meetings.

If you would like to join or form a Climate Action Team in your community, please contact or call 207-761-5616.

2015 Maine Grassroots Climate Action Conference

Maine Grassroots Climate Action Conference

Join us on Saturday, December 12th at the University of Maine in Augusta for the 2015 Maine Grassroots Climate Action Conference to learn how you can translate the international climate talks in Paris into local action in Maine.

The EPA's Clean Power Plan, the Pope's advocacy, and the encouraging prospects for the upcoming U.N. Climate meeting in Paris show that the necessary transition away from dirty fossil fuels could be within reach.

To register for the Conference, click here.

Registration costs $15 and includes light breakfast and a lunch buffet. For more information, email

This all-day event will feature presentations by Mainers working to develop community solar farms and create town solar programs, energy efficiency outreach, plastic bag bans, and community gardens in their local communities. There will also be workshops on obtaining funding for these efforts, community organizing, and more. Shenna Bellows will be the keynote speaker.
