On Tuesday June 20 a meeting was held at Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park.

The meeting was hosted by Missouri Department of Natural Resources. In attendance were Superintendent Kimberly Burfield; Kelley Brent, Park Operation and Planning; John Roth, Ozark Trail Association; Greg Iffrig, Pioneer Forest; Bob Gestel, Sierra Club; and Steve Coates, OTA.

The purpose of this meeting was to create a closer working relationship between DNR, Sierra Club, OTA and Pioneer Forest.

Subjects discussed were the upcoming Pioneer Forest Trail Days, October 14-15 2006. (See page 4 for more information.)

The main topic was completion of work on the Brushy Creek Trail.

The secondary item for discussion was scouting and mapping a trail from Round Spring along the Current River to the Brushy Creek Trail in the Pioneer Forest. Scouting on this trail is nearly complete.

A proposal should be submitted to the National Park Service by late August and hopefully work can begin some time in 2007.
