PUBLICITY CHAIR

Purpose of position:
Plan and promote Sierra Club events in the Middlesex/Somerset County area.

Duties:
The Publicity Chair will typically post event information to social media, provide content to be published on our web site by the Group Webmaster, and publicize events in traditional media in our area. This is a great opportunity to work with the Group Chair and Executive Committee to meet environmentally-aware people in our community!

 

OUTINGS CHAIR

Purpose of position:
Create and plan outings for Sierra Club members in the Middlesex/Somerset County area

Duties:
The Outings Chair may or may not lead outings themselves. If also serving as an outing leader, you must have taken (or be willing to take) a first aid course. This is a great opportunity to work with the Group Chair and Executive Committee to meet environmentally-aware people in our community!

 

MEMBERSHIP CHAIR

Purpose of position:

Help with member recruitment and fundraising in Middlesex and Somerset Counties.
Duties:

The Raritan Valley Group serves Middlesex and Somerset Counties. We are looking for a Membership Chair to coordinate member recruitment, communication, and retention, as well as fundraising activities. This is a great opportunity to work with the Group Chair and Executive Committee to meet environmentally-aware people in our community!

 

WEBMASTER CO-CHAIR

Purpose of position:
Assist with posting and updating relevant information on the RVG website.

Duties:
Attend local Group meetings and assist in developing content with the Group Executive Committee

COLLEGE LIAISON

Purpose of position:
Develop ties to area colleges, including Rutgers University and Middlesex County Community College, for the purpose of recruiting students and graduates into the Raritan Valley group of the Sierra Club
Duties:
Develop programs and communications that promote the Sierra Club to students and graduates and invite them to join through the Raritan Valley group.

      • Identify professors and graduate students who can speak to Raritan Valley members at our general meetings on such topics as recycling, renewable energy and drought impact, as well as pipeline construction and effects of diesel in our air (these are all examples).
      • Work with membership chair to target specific groups for membership, including young NJ business leaders and anyone with a passion to address environmental issues.

      • Attend Raritan Valley monthly meetings and provide a verbal report on membership and program efforts.

      • Contribute content to the Raritan Valley website as available.
