Overview

The Sierra Club is the largest and oldest influential grassroots environmental organization. It was established in 1892 by  John Muir (Scottish preservationist and conservationist).  John Muir was the first president of the club.  Sierra Club's mission is in exploring, enjoying as well as protecting wildlife places on earth. Further, we practice and promote the proper use of our earth's resources and ecosystems. Sierra Club focuses on educating and enlisting humanity for protecting and restoring human and natural environment.  Membership is approximately 1.4 million individuals.

Sierra Club is organized with 62 national Chapters and has approximately 100 Groups supporting its efforts.  The Big Bear Group is part of the San Gorgonio Chapter.

Our governing board of the Big Bear Group is comprised on nine of local Big Bear residents.
