Local Outings

LOCAL OUTINGS

The Austin Sierra Club offers a wide array of local outings which you are encouraged to participate in. The schedule for all our local outings are posted on our Meetup Calendar. If you sign up for our Meetup Calendar you may chose to receive emails from Meetup when outings are posted.

KayakingDay Outings: These are normally close to Austin and are usually a few hours in duration. These include hikes, urban walks, bike rides, kayak and canoe trips, tubing, cave tours, birding, and conservation service projects. Some activities are easy and suitable for most anyone, whereas others require advanced physical conditioning, equipment, and experience.  Please read the description, inquire with the leader, and choose an activity right for you.

NOTE:
All outings are led by qualified, volunteer outings leaders who have completed a certification program.  Our leaders are experienced in organizing group outings that are safe, educational, and enjoyable. All Participants must sign a standard liability waiver and should inform the leader of any medical issues before starting out.  Many events are suitable for families (minors must be accompanied by parent or guardian), and some are dog-friendly. We occasionally offer events which are ADA accessible.  Group meals are vegetarian-friendly. Most day events are free of charge and open to both members and non-members, although participants are encouraged to contribute a few dollars to support the club.  Fees vary on overnight trips and advance reservations are needed.  Carpooling is always encouraged and is self-organized by individuals (not assigned by the Sierra Club).  Some of our local events are accessible by Cap Metro
