2022 STATE CANDIDATE ENDORSEMENTS

The New Hampshire Chapter of the Sierra Club is the ONLY environmental organization that endorses state candidates on their environmental merits for state office races in New Hampshire. We are proud to represent the environmental conscience of the voters of New Hampshire. We take this responsibility seriously by reviewing the voting record of incumbent elected officials and candidates, if they have one, as well as requesting interviews, and with an environmental policy questionnaire. We follow a strict nationally compliant process to preserve the integrity of the policies we promote and the people we represent. There are numerous additional benefits of our endorsement as well, including creating media opportunities for the endorsed candidates, social media announcements, inclusion in a state-wide mailing to our members, and other support.

We need leaders in the State House and in Congress who will put us on the path to 100% Clean Energy; leaders who will not waiver to polluters, convenience, or self-promotion. We need to adopt common-sense solutions now for everyone to have access to clean energy, healthy air, safe drinking water and a livable planet. We cannot not continue to postpone these goals in New Hampshire.

This is why your vote on Tuesday, November 8 is critical. Collectively, our votes can elect the Climate Champion candidates who will prioritize these public access and environmental issues.

After a careful questioning and review process, the Environmental and Climate Champion candidates have earned an endorsement from the Sierra Club. The chapter political and executive committees are confident that the endorsed candidates are committed to a healthy and sustainable environment. We encourage you to vote for these candidates.

New Hampshire Sierra Club is Proud to Announce Our One and Only 2022 Primary Race Endorsement

NH SIERRA CLUB ENDORSES Cinde Warmington for Executive Council, District 2
Nation’s Largest Grassroots Environmental Group Continues Support for Warmington on NH Primary September 13

August 31, 2022
CONCORD, NH: Today, the New Hampshire Sierra Club announced its endorsement of Cinde Warmington (D -EC2) in the 2022 primary election.
"We are pleased to announce today that the NH Sierra Club officially endorses Councilor Warmington for re-election," said Jim Allmendinger, NH Chapter Political Committee Chair. "Cinde Warmington is the only Primary Election endorsement of the 2022 cycle because she works hard to ensure that New Hampshire families are healthy, enjoy clean air and water, and to build a clean energy economy that works for Granite Staters."

We are at a critical moment. The climate crisis has only worsened with the pandemic. Both have touched every one of us, exposed the inequities embedded in our economy, and continue to threaten our clean air and water, our public lands, and all our futures. That’s why it is more important than ever to re-elect champions like Councilor Warmington who will prioritize our communities and our future. She has demonstrated in just her first term as Executive Councilor how to lift up the issues of climate change and the environment to educate voters and hold others accountable on the executive council.

"We are deeply grateful to Councilor Warmington for voting with the environmental and public health values all Granite Staters share,” continued Allmendinger. "She is a true environmental champion who will fight to protect New Hampshire's clean air, clean water, our climate and state park system" Along with the endorsement, the Sierra Club will lend its volunteer strength to the Warmington campaign. "Sierra Club pledges to do all we can to help ensure Councilor Warmington is re-elected," said Political Co-Chair Jerry Curran. "Scores of Sierra Club volunteers will contact voters on her behalf and we will speak to the public as often as possible about her exemplary environmental record. We look forward to a victory on primary night and in November. New Hampshire needs Cinde Warmington fighting for the environment as District 2 Executive Councilor again."

We need YOUR help to address climate crisis deniers and environmental champions. Endorsed candidates who become endorsed elected officials are strong environmental advocates for Sierra Club issues, like clean air, safe drinking water, protected open space, clean energy, and a better future for generations to come.
