Welcome to the Tampa Bay Group
Tampa Bay is one of 15 groups of the Florida Sierra Club Chapter and is made up members and supporters of the environment who primarily live in Hillsborough and southeastern Pasco counties.
Our focus is on enjoying, learning about, and protecting Florida's natural resources, conservation, local growth management, and and environmental equity.
We educate members and the public on subjects such as:
- Wildlife habitat needs
- Climate change, resilience and sustainable living
- Clean and renewable energy
- PFAS (non-degradable plastics) and recycling
- Sustainable public transportation
- Smart use of our water resources
- Supporting smart growth and healthy communities
We give members and supporters ways to become engaged and speak out.

This November, election results across Florida will determine the future of all Floridians and our beautiful state. This is a critical election and Tampa Bay Group Political Committee and support volunteers are hard at work to get out the vote for our endorsed pro-environment candidates.The decisions made by elected officials this November will affect our clean water, natural lands, energy future, community resilience, and quality of life.

ALERT: Tell the EPA to Monitor Microplastics
Under the Safe Drinking Water Act, every five years the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is required to develop a nationwide monitoring program for up to 30 currently unregulated contaminants in drinking water. Unbelievably, the EPA failed to include microplastics in its proposed monitoring rule.
We can’t wait another 5 years — or more — until the next monitoring cycle for the EPA to start to protect people from microplastics. We need monitoring now — not delays and excuses. The proposal is out for public comment and we have until August 31 to demand federal monitoring of harmful microplastics.

Join us for an amazing story that focuses on a tiny sparrow that is used as a barometer for the health of our delicate Florida environment.
Once down to 80 in the wild, the Florida Grasshopper Sparrow is at risk of extinction due to the loss of over 90% of its original habitat. Biologist Fabiola ‘Fabby’ Baeza-Tarin and an unexpected team work together to protect the sparrows, their shrinking habitat, and the headwaters of the Everglades. The 32-minute film has received eight awards for its excellence! Admission is free.

Join us at Angry Chair Brewery for a Watch Party of Sierra Clubs monthly award-winning documentary series Vs. Goliath which tells stories of courage and resistance from the frontlines of the climate crisis. Each month, we'll screen one episode and hear directly from the people living these stories. This episode tells the story of the sacred Greater Chaco region of New Mexico where the tribal nations are fighting a relentless surge in oil and gas extraction. Following the film, watch Bill McKibben and other for a live Q&A.
