Hi! I’m Shideh, an artist based in DTLA. I work professionally as an illustrator for editorial and commercial clients. My illustrations are full of bold shapes, vibrant colors, and cute characters. In my free time I also self-publish my zines. Outside of art I love plants, public libraries, thrift stores, video games, and outfit repeating.

In my personal life, I’ve been educating myself and making personal choices to consume less and create less waste. While I'm happy with the lifestyle changes I’ve made, I didn’t realize all the work environmental groups have been doing in my own city. Since the LA fires I’ve seen the power of community, and I’d like my environmentalism to go beyond my personal choices: that’s why I applied to The Sierra Club Angeles Chapter’s Environmental Artist Residency.

I’m excited to learn about the Sierra Club Angeles Chapter’s Building Electrification campaign. Learning about my hometown’s air pollution problem and the policy work the Sierra Club Angeles Chapter is doing is really empowering. I’m hoping I can create artwork during this residency that helps educate other Angelinos about the campaign and inspires people to get involved.
