The Activist Academy
The Activist Academy is a climate and environmental justice leadership program for young people 18 to 35 who are advancing their impact on local conservation issues. Participants gain fundamental campaign planning and community organizing skills, amplify their relationship building tools, and make connections with peers and environmental leaders.
Many of the Academy graduates have become leaders and mentors in conservation organizations including the Sierra Club and many are able to use this educational program to build viable careers in the field.
The Angeles Chapter prioritizes accepting participants who are living in communities that are most harmed by poor air quality (including due to pollution from freeways and warehouses), are park-poor, and are the most vulnerable to the effects of climate change.
The Angeles Chapter takes an inclusive approach to recruitment and largely eliminates cost and location as barriers. Registration is free and the Angeles Chapter offers stipends to participants to offset the burden of cost on their time, transportation, childcare, and missed school or work.
Please consider making a donation to sustain this program by going to sc.org/AngelesActivists2025
This program is located in Los Angeles and is organized by the Angeles Chapter of the Sierra Club. 100% of your donation stays local.
