Public Lands Sale Removed From Budget Bill

As you’ve likely heard, Utah Senator Mike Lee withdrew the public lands sell-off language from the budget bill after weeks of pressure from advocates and the public. The withdrawal of the language brings to an end the quixotic journey of the controversial provision, which would have made millions of acres of public lands across the West eligible for sale to private developers. We want to take a moment to celebrate this important victory.

This victory was driven by the power of people across the country who stood strong in opposition from day one. Our members and supporters showed up with passion and determination, so this win belongs to you!  You made phone calls, sent emails and postcards, attended rallies, shared posts on social media, and helped grow this movement. Your actions proved that when we speak up together, we can protect the places we all love.

While we celebrate this hard-fought moment, we know the work ahead continues. Lamentably, Donald Trump and his allies have made it clear that they will use every tool at their disposal to sell our public lands to the highest bidder. Let this victory fuel our momentum and remind us of the power we hold to stand up, push back, and win against any attacks on our public lands. We’re grateful you stood with us. Now, let’s remain organized and committed to making our voices heard.
