National
Roadless Rule
In 2001, the Roadless Rule was finalized to protect National Parks and other public lands designated as wilderness from development and industrialization. Recently, a proposal was introduced to eliminate the rule. Today, nearly 45 million acres of designated roadless areas exist across the United States. Protecting these areas is vital to preserving wildlife, plant life, and natural biodiversity.
Imagine visiting your favorite National Park only to find construction zones and natural spaces being cleared for development. For anyone who has experienced the awe of a National Park, repealing the Roadless Rule would threaten the continued protection of those lands.

The City of Irvine recently reaffirmed its membership in the Orange County Power Authority (OCPA), a not-for-profit energy provider. This decision allows Irvine to continue offering residents access to renewable energy. More than 200 other communities also participate in OCPA, making it a key pathway for these communities to meet their climate goals.
