Palomar Mountain State Park Campout

Come to Palomar Mountain State Park.  Hike to Boucher Hill Lookout, Doane Pond, Doane Valley, French Valley, Chimney Flat and a visit to world famous Palomar Observatory.  Over millennia, many native groups used these mountains as seasonal villages where they hunted game, gathered acorns and other seed crops. Later came Spanish colonists, Mexican land grants, settlers and homesteads.  Palomar Mountain remained a wild place for many years until the Park was created in 1933.   Today's Luiseño   people are still here and work to honor and restore their ancient languages and culture.
