It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Jeremy R. Burnham (“Jerry”), our beloved longtime treasurer at the Crescenta Valley Group of the Sierra Club and management committee member for over 30 years. Jerry passed away on March 2, 2026 at the age of 80-years-old at his home with his wife, Mary, and sons, Johathan and Tristan.
Jerry was an active member of our Sierra Club group, contributing to our monthly Tree Care events in Sunland-Tujunga for the past five years. He also was a longtime volunteer at Deukmejian Wilderness Park in La Crescenta, watering the trees that were planted there, every month, for the past ten years.
Jerry was a US Navy Veteran and served in Vietnam on board the USS Truxtun (CNG-35 (a nuclear-powered guided missile cruiser) as a Lieutenant Junior Grade (LTJG).
Jerry was a member of the American Legion Post 288 and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #1614 for the past 11 years. He most recently served as the Quartermaster for the VFW and the Finance Officer for both the Legion and VFW.
