The Boynton Beach polystyrene foam, balloons, and confetti ordinance passed first reading April 5th, unanimously, without any changes. This ordinance (once it passes second reading) will prohibit single-use polystyrene foam products on city property and city events/contracts. The ordinance will also prohibit the use of balloons and confetti on all outdoor city property, including city parks/beach. Thanks to everyone who wrote the city commission in support. Rebecca Harvey, the city’s Sustainability Coordinator, did a great job with this ordinance. Click here to view ordinance.
