Volunteer to Help Lead Outings

By Meryl Davids Landau

Palm Beach County Inspiring Connections Outdoors is our Sierra Club group that provides safe and fun outdoor experiences for youth from marginalized communities in our area.

We're looking for volunteers to assist with our outings when they (hopefully) resume in the fall, including people who want to help lead these outings. All you need to join our volunteer family is a love for children and the outdoors.

We are in the process of planning a virtual leader training for one weekend soon, where you can learn how to lead outings, with the assistance of other volunteers. Contact us if you want more information about this.

Over the years, Palm Beach County ICO has taken kids on outings all over Florida including Everglades National Park, Big Cypress National Preserve, Myakka State Park, Collier-Seminole State Park, Jonathan Dickinson State Park, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center, Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge, Frenchman's Forest, Phil Foster Park Snorkel Trail, Gumbo Limbo Nature Center, and many others. The kids participate in a variety of activities including hiking, kayaking, snorkeling, swimming, biking, and camping. Our outings typically take place on Saturdays, with a few overnight adventures.

ICO is run completely by volunteers. You can choose the types of outings you want to be involved in based on availability and activity.
