Apply Now for an Award to Support Local Climate Action

The Grassroots Network Climate Emergency Mobilization (GN-CEM) Team is once again offering several Community Climate Action Awards of up to $1,000 each to a limited number of Sierra Club Groups or Chapters that are advancing local, climate-focused initiatives.

All applications must be received by or before May 31, 2024 and funds must be used for calendar year 2024 expenses. Representative local actions would include, for instance:

  • Supporting high-impact ordinances or actions aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and other climate pollutants, or sequestering carbon in your community.
  • Mobilizing community members to engage with your city councils, county boards of supervisors, and local government and regional agencies to adopt a Climate Emergency Resolution or legislation to reduce climate related emissions or increase carbon sequestration.
  • Supporting community members to work with elected officials towards development and implementation of a comprehensive Climate Action Plan.
  • Increasing climate change awareness and education in your community's local school district.
