About Us

Our goal is to prevent further contamination of lands, waters, air, and biota by highly toxic compounds known as PFAS.

The PFAS Team is a national team of the Sierra Club that works with the Grassroots Network.  Our team is interdisciplinary and includes scientists, policy experts, and activists.

This site supports work by Sierra Club activists, chapters and communities:

  • Community science projects to test for PFAS in rivers and streams and in sludge/biosolids from wastewater treatment plans and
  • Web resources and support for community efforts to stop the spread of PFAS in sludge/biosolids onto lands and farms and into commercial garden products.

We participate in conferences and share fact sheets with activists.

Some of our members participated in the June 2024 National PFAS Conference in Ann Arbor.  We contributed two posters and one panel presentation. The conference organizers have posted presentation slides and recordings from the conference at this link  https://www.nationalpfasconference.org/2024videos

You can view our posters from the conference:

"Six Lessons Learned from Community Monitoring" by Sonya Lunder and others.

"PFAS Compounds Flow to Farms and Gardens via Wastewater" by Amy D Kyle, PhD MPH -- with the PFAS Team.
