Grow Solar Metro East

Three people stand in front of a large solar panel. The Grow Solar Metro East program makes installing solar simple and more affordable by educating homeowners and businesses and creating opportunities for them to pool their buying power to secure significant discounts. Most homeowners and commercial property owners throughout Madison County, St. Clair County, and Monroe County are eligible to participate in this program.

The current program builds on previous years of successful Grow Solar programs that have helped over 217 local property owners go solar! An advisory team made up of local volunteers, led by the non profit Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA), selects a qualified solar contractor through a competitive bid process, saving property owners the hassle of conducting their own search for a contractor. Over a six month period from the spring to the early fall, key volunteers work with the contractor to present one-hour educational ”Solar Power Hours” to explain how solar energy systems work, the ways in which the Grow Solar Metro East program brings participants quality and value, and how participants can reduce energy bills and environmental impact.
