Sierra Club Illinois Announces Primary Election Endorsements

Illinois -- Today, Sierra Club announced its endorsements in the primary election for the Illinois General Assembly and Cook County State’s Attorney. Sierra Club’s full list of primary endorsements can be found here and will stay updated as more endorsements are announced.

“Our endorsed candidates are champions we can count on to fight for our future,” said Sierra Club Illinois Political Chair Barbara Hill. “Sierra Club is fighting for policies that bolster the clean energy economy and create jobs, transition Illinois to 100% clean energy, and protect our land, water, and communities from pollution and environmental injustice. To enact these critical policies, we need to elect officials at every level of government who understand the full weight of the climate emergency and are grounded in justice. We are excited that our volunteer-led endorsement process has identified candidates up and down the ballot who are committed to those values.”

“Sierra Club’s endorsed candidates will work to protect clean air, clean water, our climate, and wild spaces,” said Sierra Club Illinois Organizing Director Caroline Wooten. “Our members and volunteers are excited to do all we can to help ensure these candidates win. We’ll be hitting the streets to knock doors and make phone calls to make a difference in key races, and encourage all of our nearly 30,000 members and supporters across the state to get out the vote for these candidates.”

Sierra Club’s contacts with Illinois voters on behalf of endorsed candidates are funded by Sierra Club Illinois PAC. Copies of our reports are available from the State Board of Elections in Springfield, Illinois.
