Illinois -- Today, Sierra Club announced its endorsements in the primary election for the Illinois General Assembly and county offices. Sierra Club’s full list of primary endorsements can be found here and will stay updated as more endorsements are announced.
“Our endorsed candidates are champions we can count on to fight for our future,” said Sierra Club Illinois Political Chair Barbara Hill. “Illinois must lead with bold solutions to address the onslaught of data centers and their impact on our climate and water, protect consumers from gas rate hikes and indoor air pollution, and make it easier for Illinoisans to walk, bike, take transit, and charge an electric vehicle, and more. Illinois’ leadership in protecting our environment is more important now than ever, and these are candidates who will put our health and safety first.”
Sierra Club’s endorsements process is driven by local grassroots volunteers, and more endorsements will be announced soon. In addition to endorsements for the Illinois General Assembly, volunteers in Cook, DuPage, Kane, and Lake counties have made endorsements in local races in those areas.
“It has never been more important that Illinois step up to protect our neighbors while the Trump administration is gutting safeguards for our air, water, and public lands, and cracking down on our communities rather than corporate polluters ,” said Sierra Club Illinois Director Jack Darin. “These are the leaders who will fight to protect our communities, and are strongly recommended by our grassroots volunteers. We’ll be hitting the streets to knock doors and make phone calls to make a difference in key races, and encourage all of our more than 30,000 members across the state to get out the vote for these candidates.”
Sierra Club’s contacts with Illinois voters on behalf of endorsed candidates are funded by Sierra Club Illinois PAC. Copies of our reports are available from the State Board of Elections in Springfield, Illinois.
