Sierra Club Illinois is proud to announce our endorsed candidates for the 2026 election. With our communities and environment under attack from the Trump Administration, it’s more important than ever to elect environmental champions to office at the state and local level.
Once elected, these individuals will have their work cut out: from addressing the onslaught of data centers and their impact on our climate and water, to protecting consumers from gas rate hikes and indoor air pollution, to making it easier for Illinoisans to walk, bike, take transit, and charge an electric vehicle, and more. Our state faces big challenges, and we need people with strong environmental commitments and proven track records to help deliver for our communities and environment.
We follow a rigorous endorsement process that includes members from across the state and evaluates candidates’ voting record, policy positions, and their ability to win and be effective public servants. We’re still making more endorsements, so keep checking back to see who else we add to this list!
