COVID Protocol Extended through July 2021
We are looking forward to getting back out in the field after a temporary stay on all Sierra Club events due to COVID-19. While we are still planning events we HOPE to have, we are adhering to the guidlines sent out by the National Chapter of Sierra Club to extend the current COVID-19 status through July 2021. This means that there will continue to be no travel, no in-person meetings, no public events and no outings through this date. If all goes well, we look forward to a seed havest with the Nature Conservancy at the end of June, and a few others in July and August! We are also looking forward to a new potential partnership with the DeKalb County Cub Scouts troop 3169. We will help the troop by providing educational opportunities for the scouts to advance in rank! Our main focus will be teaching the scouts how to identify different native and invasive trees and plants, birds, and insects! This is a fantastic outreach opportunity and we are delighted by the willingness of the scout leaders to let us be their guide!
We are still looking for 2-4 new members for our leadership team. Interested persons should demonstrate the following qualities:
- A passion for protecting public interests, public health and our environment.
- A willingness to engage others in conversations and action campaigns that support Sierra Club’s mission.
- A willingness to commit to attending 2-4 public meetings per year, and one planning meeting every other month.
- Candidates with knowledge and experience of social media platforms and marketing are most welcome (not required)!
- An interest in meeting new people and recruiting new members.
- Having fun with it all!
We all have our niches and passions that drive us to the work we do either professionally or as a volunteer. This is your chance to express the changes you wish to see in the world, to a group that has the resources to help make your ideas come to life! Interested individuals should e-mail NEIN.email@example.com You will meet with co-chair David VanGilder and myself, Celia Elder, to talk about the work we do and the work you wish to accomplish with the Sierra Club. We look forward to having YOU as part of our team!
