The Buena Vista Group (BVG) is Bakersfield's local Sierra Club group. As one of four groups of the Kern-Kaweah Chapter, BVG serves the Southern San Joaquin Valley, Kern Valley, and Tehachapi areas. BVG meets monthly in Bakersfield, California, and participates in the discussion of a variety of local issues from preservation of the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail for hikers and equestrians to protecting people’s health from pollution.
Sierra Club members and the public are invited to the Buena Vista Group Breakfast and Program on the first Saturday of the month [we sometimes go on a hiatus in July]. The programs are educational and expand on Sierra Club’s mission to Enjoy, Explore, and Protect the planet. More specific information about the programs can be found in the Kern-Kaweah Chapter newsletter, the bi-monthly Roadrunner.
