Join the Prince George’s Sierra Club 2021 Fall Celebration

Saturday, September 25, 2-4 PM

The Prince George’s County Sierra Club is delighted to announce that the 2021 Mike Maloney Environmental Service Award will be awarded to Sacoby Wilson, PhD, for his outstanding work for Environmental Justice. As a member of the faculty of the Maryland Institute of Applied Environmental Health in the University of Maryland School of Public Health in College Park, Professor Wilson works tirelessly for the cause of Environmental Justice through teaching, writing, publishing a journal, and convening public health professionals to draw attention to environmental inequities that lead to health disparities. Dr. Wilson’s work at the Community Engagement, Environmental Justice, and Health Lab and his contributions to the Prince George’s County Environmental Justice Commission have laid the groundwork for advancing the cause of Environmental Justice in our county.

The Maloney award will be presented at the Fall Celebration on September 25 at 2PM. Because of concerns about COVID 19, we are converting our planned picnic to a virtual celebration. After a quick virtual visit to Cosca Regional Park, we'll highlight Environmental Justice aspects of environmental issues that Prince George’s County faces and also how EJ principles should be embedded into solutions for environmental problems, including our Climate Action Plan. There also will be time to catch up with friends, meet new kindred spirits, and find out about new volunteer opportunities.

All are welcome! Bring some friends!

You might win a prize!
Please plan to join us to celebrate the work of Dr. Wilson and learn more about Environmental Justice in Prince George’s County!
