The team discussed Xcel’s clean energy plan, which is supposed to achieve 100% carbon-free energy by 2040. Members do have some concerns, such as approval of a new gas plant, and are hoping to get more specific information. The team hopes to be more involved in future decisions.
Much of the discussion before and during the past meeting focused on how we can push back on Trump’s agenda. We’re sure this has been a focus of many of the other committees; like them, we are very frustrated. The team identified some upcoming demonstrations and boycotts, and will keep their eye on events. (In the five days between the meeting and when this is being written, a great deal has happened—not the least being the “meeting” between Trump/Vance and Zelenskyy. The political environment is undoubtedly changing, but where it’s going is yet to be determined.)
Regarding the IRA rebates: They are still up in the air. The team is holding off presenting more informational events until it is clear if/when rebates will actually become available.
