These warm-weather months have our team focused on bike rides and active transportation. September will bring three back to back Sundays of bike rides: the Saint Paul Classic Bike Tour on Sunday, September 7, the Twin Cities Bike Tour on Sunday, September 14, and the Sun Day Day of Action bike ride on Sunday, September 21. Sierra Club will have a table at all three events, where we'll be sharing information about efforts to extend the Midtown Greenway.
In addition, the team has been brainstorming about ways to participate in the upcoming national Week Without Driving (September 29 to October 5). Last year, many city council members and state representatives joined the challenge, and we're hoping to engage even more this year. A third of the US population can't rely on a car to get around; this initiative raises awareness about the challenges nondrivers face day to day.
