Team Update - Degrowth - June 2026

Degrowth

New Work Plan: We plan to strengthen our relationships with other Chapter teams to see where our work overlaps. We plan to collaborate with the Chapter’s work to oppose Data Centers, bringing a degrowth lens. We will pursue a collaboration with the Zero Waste Team, on a project to be determined. We will set one stretch goal for our team to do on our own. We will discuss options at our next meeting and decide. Also discussed the need for more outreach to grow our email list.

Transition Town: Ivan, a team member from Rochester, said a group there is working on a Transition Town initiative. It’s a grassroots community project that aims to increase self-sufficiency to reduce the potential effects of peak oil, climate destruction, and economic instability through renewed localization strategies, especially around food production and energy usage. A UU group is hosting. The first day-long meeting had 40 people.

Second Annual Coop Summit to be held at St. Scholastica in Duluth, July 28-29. Goals include Understanding the economic resiliency and long term sustainability of co-ops, and gaining inspiration from creative coop success stories.
