Team Update - Land Use and Transportation - July 2026

Land Use and Transportation

Last month, more than 50 state legislators and staff registered for a roundtable discussion of Land Value Tax (LVT), a land use tool that, if legalized, could help your town or city to boost infill development and much-needed housing in underutilized or abandoned properties. LVT is one of many strategies Sierra Club advocates for to encourage transit-oriented development that brings housing costs down in tandem with the climate costs of transportation.

This month, our team discussed the ongoing effort to extend the Midtown Greenway across the Mississippi River, and ultimately connecting it to Allianz Field in St. Paul. Now is a great time to ask your Hennepin or Ramsey County Commissioner to commit to a long-term plan that would boost walking, bicycling, and interconnectivity for the Twin Cities region.
