Land Use and Transportation

The Metro Transit Blue Line Extension is once again under threat. See the MPR article here. Hennepin County and the Met Council are at an impasse in closing a funding gap before they can apply for federal funding.  LUT leaders have been rallying at Metro Transit Headquarters to demand that leaders find the funding to build the project. Lawmakers worked hard to get the Green Line Extension, serving the wealthier southwest metro, across the finish line. The Blue Line Extension will serve tens of thousands of Minnesotans in Brooklyn Park, Crystal, Robbinsdale, and North Minneapolis—a region where 50% of households don’t have access to a car, 60% of potential riders are people of color, and 37% are low-income.

This isn’t just about transit, but equity. The Northside deserves clean, safe transit and an alternative to cars!
