Ready for 100 Renewables Campaign

Congrats RF100

June 2019 ---State College Borough Council voted unanimously to adopt a resolution establishing a goal of 100 percent clean, renewable energy no later than 2050. With this resolution, the Borough of State College is now committed to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions and 100 percent renewable energy “as quickly as feasible” and to “lead by example to rapidly pursue these goals in a manner that is transparent, fair, and economically responsible.” State College is the 17th community in Pennsylvania to commit to 100 percent clean, renewable energy, and the first outside of Southeastern Pennsylvania. It is also the 126th city to adopt this goal nationally.

State College Ready for 100 envisions the future of State College as a healthy, thriving community, powered by affordable, community-based, and 100% clean, renewable energy sources by 2050. As part of the nationwide 100% clean energy movement, we advocate for the freedom to choose clean, affordable energy, and we participate in energy systems rooted in equity, democracy, and local agency.

We hold that a future with 100% clean energy in State College or Centre County cannot include economic and racial inequalities, energy-related health and environmental burdens, or disinvestment in marginalized communities. We value multiple social justice movements and contribute to a movement that includes 100% clean energy for all people in State College, Centre County, and Pennsylvania.
