Clean Energy and Climate

Cleaner, cheaper, healthier energy is here. It’s time for leaders across the U.S. to commit to 100% clean and renewable energy for all.  The Sierra Club has long campaigned for the shutdown of coal power plants and, more recently, encouraged local communities and local units of government to commit to using 100% renewable energy sources for ALL their energy needs (electricity, heating, and transportation).

In 2018, the Coulee Region Group formed a "Ready for 100" Team that played a key role in getting the City of La Crosse to commit to carbon neutrality and transitioning to 100% clean, renewable energy community-wide by 2050. La Crosse County then passed a similar resolution. Our group is now collaborating with other organizations to encourage the School District of La Crosse to adopt clean energy goals. Follow developments at cr-sierra.blogspot.com, to learn how you can help move this important initiative forward. This link is to a more complete presentation on Coulee Region Ready for 100.

We have also joined the Wisconsin Chapter in opposing the construction of a new fossil gas plant by Dairyland Power. Read more and sign a petition here!
