Sierra Club Sues Over EPA Failure To Comply with Freedom of Information Act Request

June 11, 2018: As part of the Club's ongoing work to bring transparency to the Pruitt EPA, the Environmental Law Program submitted FOIA requests seeking agency records of external communications and calendars for Michelle Hale, Pruitt’s executive assistant who also worked for Pruitt when he was the Oklahoma Attorney General, and fourteen new political appointees, including Nancy Beck, a former executive of the American Chemical Association, and Christian Palich, former president of the Ohio Coal Association. Because the agency has failed to substantively respond to these requests, ELP will file suit to recover responsive documents from EPA and to shed light onto industry influence at the agency.
