Bluemont, VA -- Sierra Club organizers and various allies will join hands in resisting proposed Atlantic Coast and Mountain Valley pipelines. The event will feature a prominent member of Virginia’s House of Delegates and speakers from multiple public lands advocacy groups-- all stressing the importance of public lands protections for the state’s economy, wildlife and residents. A distinct photo opportunity includes the large crowd joining hands along the proposed pipeline route, revealing the community’s serious concerns with how losing land protection puts local communities at risk.

The event coincides with Secretary Zinke’s upcoming national monument status recommendations which will be released within the next week. A shift in their status puts 27 national monuments at risk from drilling, clearcutting and development. Attendees join in unison with those all over the country standing up for public lands on Saturday.
