Columbia, S.C.Today, EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt was in South Carolina to promote the Trump Administration’s environmental agenda, including rollbacks to the federal Clean Water Acta bedrock protection against dangerous pollution contaminating America’s waterways and drinking water supplies.

In response, Christopher Hall, chair of the Sierra Club’s South Carolina Chapter,

issued the following  statement:

"South Carolina's environment is as valuable to our economy as it is to experience.

"We've all been well-served by the Clean Water Act over the last several decades, but these important protections are increasingly threatened by the Trump Administration's EPA.

“Administrator Pruitt's destructive agenda includes rolling back protections for South Carolina's 30,000 miles of rivers, streams and creeksneedlessly jeopardizing the health and well-being of the communities that rely on these waters.

"The next time the administrator comes back to South Carolina, he should spend more time learning about the profound economic and environmental consequences for South Carolina from this misguided rollback by getting on the water himself to see why we're fighting to protect these precious resources from pollution.

"The Sierra Club, and its more than 20,000 members and supporters across South Carolina, will continue to oppose the Trump administration’s environmental rollbacks at every opportunity.”
