WASHINGTON D.C.-- Today, the U.S. Congress voted to continue fund the government for one more week.

In response, Sierra Club’s Executive Director Michael Brune released the following statement:

“We applaud the Senate Democrats for prioritizing and defending all Americans, our clean air and water, and our healthcare throughout this fight. By stopping the plans of Trump and his allies in Congress to shred our most important public health safeguards and shutter our most critical watchdog agencies, this effort will keep the lights on and ensure our vital agencies, like the EPA, will continue their mission. These are essential to keep our air and water clean, to curb pollution that affects the most vulnerable communities, and to help us address the global climate crisis.”
