Roswell, GA -- Today, the Sierra Club announced the launch of its Victory Corps program to support Jon Ossoff, the Democratic nominee for the Georgia-6th special election. Victory Corps is a Sierra Club coordinated effort that embeds staff on state and federal campaigns to contact voters in support of endorsed candidates.

“As the nation’s largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization, the Sierra Club is uniquely equipped to mobilize voters and elect Jon Ossoff,” said Sierra Club PAC Director Sarah Burton. “It’s been well established that field efforts win campaigns, and that’s exactly what we plan to do.”

The deployed staffer will work with Ossoff’s campaign and their field staff to create and expand a robust volunteer operation targeting the Sierra Club’s members and supporters, persuading voters and getting out the vote.

“This congress, when it isn’t refusing to do its job and hold the Executive Branch accountable, has been perhaps the most environmentally destructive we’ve ever witnessed, voting to repeatedly undo life-saving environmental and climate safeguards,” said Sierra Club organizer, Victory Corps staffer, and lifelong resident of the Georgia 6th, Ian Karra. “Climate champion Jon Ossoff will protect our clean air and water, defend our democracy, and help grow the state’s clean energy economy, which employs over 20,000 Georgians.”

While the Victory Corps program was established in 2008, the Sierra Club has been deploying staff to work with campaigns since 1988.
