Sierra Club Statement on Jim Justice Switching Back to the Republican Party
Huntington, WV -- Today, at a rally in West Virginia with Donald Trump, Jim Justice announced he was switching back to the Republican Party. Justice was elected Governor in 2016 after switching to the Democratic Party in February 2015.
In response, Bill Price, Sierra Club’s Senior Organizing Representative in West Virginia, released the following statement:
"Those who supported Mr. Justice may very well feel deserted, but for those who have known who he is and who he always has been, his choice to score cheap political points at the expense of those who trusted him is not a surprise. After all, he has continually put the profits of corporate polluters before the health of our communities throughout his career, just like the man he appeared with in Huntington today."
