WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, Donald Trump will release a budget outline that will reportedly slash funding for the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Interior.

In response, Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune released the following statement:

“A budget is a statement of priorities, and with this proposal, Trump is telling America he doesn’t care about what happens to children who are forced to drink toxic water and breath polluted air. Everyone in this country has a right to live a life free from dangerous pollution and to enjoy America's parks and public lands, but this budget attacks those core values. Trump’s budget guts the Environmental Protection Agency -- the only federal agency charged with keeping our air and water clean -- starves our cherished parks, and threatens our wildlife. This is a budget rigged to boost the profits of corporate polluters at the expense of the health of our families. Sierra Club and our 2.7 million members and supporters urge members of Congress to show that they support public health and public lands by rejecting this toxic budget and embracing the priorities of the American people.”
