The Trump Administration has approved a $2.5 billion energy project near Joshua Tree National Park. The Eagle Crest Energy Company’s 1,300 megawatt hydropower project would drain billions of gallons of water from the desert aquifer and harm local desert species.

San Gregorio Chapter Conservation Chair Kim Floyd released the following statement:

"Once again the Trump Administration is meddling in California’s desert. Once again the Trump administration ignored relevant science and overruled the National Park Service. Once again, the Trump administration is propping up a company’s rights to destroy California’s delicate ecosystems and put species native to our desert in critical danger."
