Oakland, CA -- Tonight, former Vice President Joe Biden accepted the Democratic Party’s nomination for President of the United States. Last week, the Sierra Club endorsed Biden, highlighting the strength of his plan to tackle the climate crisis, and praised his selection of Senator Kamala Harris as his running mate.

“Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are the strongest ticket ever for proposed climate action, and the Sierra Club is proud to have endorsed them,” said Sierra Club President Ramon Cruz. “After four years of relentless attacks on our democracy, our humanity, and the climate, we look forward to electing Biden and Harris and turning their bold policies and platforms into action.”

“Donald Trump is the worst president ever for the climate, our health, and our safety. He views the power of the presidency not as a change for good, but as a weapon to damage the nation while enriching himself and his cronies,” said Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune. “I am proud to fight alongside Sierra Club’s members and supporters to  work tirelessly these next 75 days to put an end to the Trump Administration once and for all by electing two climate champions: Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.”

“Four years of Trump's divisive, racist tactics, and nearly 100 environmental rollbacks led by his administration have taught us that we will not be able to prevent climate catastrophe and advance social justice as long as he occupies the White House,” said Sierra Club Political Director Ariel Hayes. “This is the most consequential election of our lifetime, which is why the Sierra Club is mobilizing our members and supporters like never before to elect a Biden-Harris Administration. Let’s get to work.”
