Washington, DC – Today, the United States Senate voted to confirm Joseph Goffman to serve as head of the US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Office of Air and Radiation. The office works to develop national policies and regulations for controlling air pollution and radiation exposure, including administration of the Clean Air Act, the Atomic Energy Act, and other applicable environmental laws.

Today, the Department of Energy (DOE) released a final energy efficiency standard for stoves. The new standards will take effect in 2028 and, according to DOE, are projected to save Americans approximately $1.6 billion on their utility bills over 30 years.

PENNSYLVANIA -- Today, the Department of Energy (DOE) announced that it will halt approvals of new liquefied fracked gas exports (LNG) while the agency reviews its criteria for determining if an application is in the public interest. DOE has never rejected a gas export application on the grounds of harm to the public interest despite clear and growing evidence that gas exports are inconsistent with global climate targets, destroy local communities and harm critical ecosystems, while increasing domestic energy costs.
