TALLAHASSEE, FLAA bill under consideration in the state Legislature would let Florida Power and Light and other utilities make customers pay for exploratory gas fracking in other states and also make customers give the utilities a guaranteed profit for that exploration.

 

A Senate panel on Tuesday approved SB 1238, which would undo a 2016 Supreme Court ruling that said companies are overstepping their authority in passing along these costs to ratepayers.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, North Dakota Republican Kevin Cramer and eight of his Republican colleagues in the House sent a letter to Trump calling for the U.S.’s commitment to the Paris Agreement be weakened, including a rejection of the current U.S. Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), putting forth a new pledge that supports “a future for fossil fuels,” reneging on U.S. commitments to the Green Climate Fund, and promoting the fossil fuel sector.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Two days before thousands and thousands of people are expected to march for climate action in Washington, DC and across the country, the U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao and EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt will meet with the board members of the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers -- a trade group representing General Motors, Toyota, Volkswagen, Ford, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, and others --to discuss dismantling lifesaving fuel and emissions saving protections.

MOAB, UT. -- Today Donald Trump issued an Executive Order requiring the Department of the Interior to determine whether or not to shrink or otherwise modify existing national monuments across the country. The Order requires the Department of the Interior to review large landscape national monuments designated through use of the Antiquities Act since 1996, including Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. The Bears Ears National Monument in Utah will receive special attention.

ATLANTA - The Atlanta City Council Utilities Committee today approved legislation directing the City’s Office of Sustainability to create a plan by January studying how City Buildings will be powered by 100 percent clean electricity by 2025 and how all of Atlanta will be 100 percent clean energy by 2035.
