FINGER LAKES GROUP ELECTION RESULTS

The membership has voted and the four open spots on the Finger Lakes Group Executive Committee (EXCOM) have been filled. The four highest vote getters (all returnees) are Thomas Hirasuna (Climate Reality), Philip Gillemot (Website Contributor and Solid Waste Committee Chair), Harold Bauer (Political Committee Chair and Alternate Delegate to the Atlantic Chapter), and Gene Stolfi. They were elected to two-year terms and rejoin the other EXCOM members Bill Mattingly (Group Chair and Group Delegate to the Atlantic Chapter), Kate Bartholomew (Atlantic Chapter Chair and Group Conservation Chair), Susanne Brown (Secretary and Treasurer), Elizabeth Donderewicz (Stop Sewage Sludge Landspreading Committee Chair), Frank Potter, Jim Trondsen, and Dick Kurtz (Water Sentinels).

The election of the candidates ended on December 31, 2024.  Voting was done both by paper ballot that was included in the final Finger Lakes Sierran newsletter, and online. The filling of the specific group assignments was done on January 23 by vote of the EXCOM.

The Executive Committee is looking to increase the involvement of Finger Lakes Sierra Club members in voting and to increase the percentage of members who vote online, due to the cost of printing and mailing ballots that are included in the winter newsletter. At the January 23 meeting there was discussion to entertain the idea of distributing the spring newsletter exclusively online.
