What is your favorite place in Colorado?

Mine is the Indian Peaks Wilderness. I love the spectacular views, the distinct wildness, and the fact that it is protected as a wilderness area, meaning its incredible ecosystems are largely undisturbed by the outside world. It’s a place where I can center myself and gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the work we do together at the Sierra Club Colorado Chapter.

You can protect your favorite place and mine in Colorado for generations to come by making a donation today.

It can be easy to take Colorado’s beauty for granted, and the effects of climate change and pollution can at times be difficult to spot. But imagine–what would it look like if we did nothing to protect the places that make our state so special? From this year’s extreme drought to wildfires and summer heatwaves, we know we must take action.

All of the work we do together at the Sierra Club Colorado Chapter is for the protection of our home state and in service of building resilience in the face of a changing climate. Whether it’s land conservation, energy policy, or get-out-the-vote work, all of these efforts help preserve the land we love.

Right now, we’re halfway through the year, and we have a lot more to do before we close out 2026. Here are just a few of the impacts your gift will make:

  • You will create new parks and conservation areas in Colorado. We will identify conservation hot spots, ensuring our state can be a leader for protection of our public lands.
  • You will support guardrails on data centers. We will advocate for policies to ensure they do not increase utilities’ reliance on dirty energy or use up our limited water resources.
  • You will protect wildlife by helping us pass a bill to raise money to build wildlife crossings over major highways. This will protect drivers and animals by preventing collisions and keeping our highways safe for all.
  • You will ensure that we can pay for the impacts of climate change on our lands, wildlife, and communities. By learning what impacts Coloradans are facing and passing legislation to ensure the biggest polluters pay their fair share for adaptation and resilience, we will build a brighter future together.

All of these goals have one thing in common–YOU! Will you join me today by making a donation today?

Your generosity makes all the difference in whether or not the places you love will be around for future generations to enjoy.

And, I want you to know that as a supporter of Sierra Club Colorado, you’ve already made a difference. This time last year, you helped mobilize thousands of people to demand that Congress not sell our public lands to polluting industries and the highest bidder. We stopped some of the most egregious sell-offs. And, if necessary, we will do it again!

None of this would have been possible without your support, which is why I am asking you to join your fellow Colorado Sierrans and donate today. $25 or $2,500, your gift makes a difference!

As I explore the Indian Peaks Wilderness, I think about what it might look like ten or twenty years from now if nothing is done to mitigate climate disasters, reduce air pollution, and protect biodiversity. The impact of our work is sometimes hard to see in the moment, but the impact of doing nothing is clear and catastrophic.

We can’t afford to leave our future to chance. Together, we can make sure that Colorado’s story is one of protection, resilience, and hope. We can create a world where the special places in our state remain beautiful for generations to come.

Please make your gift today to finish the work still ahead and help write the next chapter for Colorado’s environment.

With gratitude,

Ramesh Bhatt
