Colorado Sierra Club Nominations

The Sierra Club Colorado Chapter seeks dedicated members for the challenging and exciting role on its Steering Committee.

The Steering Committee is responsible for setting the mission, priorities, policies, and budget for the Chapter, which enables staff and volunteers to carry out the Sierra Club's mission in Colorado. We are committed to diversity and encourage applications from members across all Colorado geographical regions, backgrounds, races, genders, and ages.

The Nominations Committee is specifically seeking candidates with experience in change management, leadership guided by equity values, and fundraising.

The Steering Committee is composed of 7 appointed volunteers and up to 2 additional alternates, and has the responsibility and authority to oversee all staff and volunteer activities of the Sierra Club Colorado Chapter. Together, Steering Committee members establish the Chapter’s conservation priorities, internal policies, and develop and implement the budget in partnership with staff and volunteer leaders across the state.

To be considered, please submit your application by January 16, 2026.

Please note that interviews may be required. Expect to be notified of final consideration late January/early February 2026.

Steering Committee members will serve out this term through the end of 2026.  

 

The Sierra Club Colorado Chapter Steering Committee is a working board. All members are expected to devote sufficient time and energy to the tasks at hand. All Steering Committee members are expected to:

 

  •  Prepare for and attend meetings, as well as monthly conference calls, email, and other briefings.

  • Serve actively on one or more committees and/or task forces.

  • Participate actively in Steering Committee deliberations by respectful listening and by contributing in ways that advance the Sierra Club Colorado Chapter’s strategic priorities.

  • Represent the Sierra Club and its programs, campaigns, and policies to various Sierra Club and public audiences.

 

Applicants interested in serving should be:

 

    Sierra Club members in good standing.

    Dedicated to the purposes and goals of the Sierra Club

    Committed to Sierra Club’s adopted values of anti-racism, justice, balance, collaboration and transformation.

    Able to think strategically, politically, and creatively about a range of environmental issues

    Able and willing to accept the fiduciary responsibilities of a Steering Committee member

    Committed to our fundraising goals.
