OPEN BROWARD SIERRA COMMITTEE LEADERSHIP POSITIONS

BSG needs motivated, creative, and organized members who want to help lead the way forward. Can you join our leadership team?  

  • Communications Chair - Work with all BSG Chairs to identify and promote issues, meeting, events, etc., in a timely manner on all social media accounts, the BSG website, and sending Marketing Cloud bulk emails to inform our members and supporters. Assist with communications strategy development, article writing and promotional materials. Learn the monthly BSG Bulletin newsletter production process and act as a backup for other members. Learn the Sierra Club Marketing Cloud bulk mailing system.
  • Fundraising Chair - Know the how, the why and when for creating BSG fundraising opportunities and events. Learn to use online GiveButter fundraising application for campaigns, ticketed events, auctions, and donor database building. Work with BSG ExCom and Committee Chairs to identify specific environmental education and sponsorship programs in need of funding.
  • Membership Chair - Send welcome letter to all new members, and recruit new members at colleges, religious organizations, high schools, public events. Hold meet and greet meetings and socials with new members. Write articles for publication in local newspapers and other media. Gain increased visibility for BSG in public outreach programs.
  • Special Events Chair - Identify and develop new opportunities for special events programming for BSG membership and the greater public. Create subcommittees for event planning and organization. Examples include: our Annual Earth Day Celebration, annual Awards Banquet, environmental documentary film series in conjunction with Broward Libraries and the League of Women Voters, EcoSocial get-togethers, and other environmental education events.

  • Volunteering Chair - Work with Committee Chairs to identify upcoming Committee meetings, BSG volunteer opportunities and events for posting. Collaborate with other nonprofits, local government, and community organizations to identify community volunteering opportunities that may be of interest to BSG members. Increase member participation and onboard new BSG volunteers and identify their interests and availability. Create volunteering surveys, outreach materials, and volunteer list.
